Meet Rachel Whisennant, LPC, NCC

I’m so glad you are here! I first want to say welcome to one of the hardest parts of therapy…finding the right therapist for you! I hope you are proud of yourself for making it here.

At the heart of my practice, I embody warmth, encouragement, gentleness, and honesty. These values form the foundation of the therapeutic relationships I build, prioritizing openness, trust, and connection. I firmly believe that a strong, supportive therapeutic relationship is crucial for a successful journey toward healing and growth.

My passion for therapy stems from a very personal place. Remembering my own experiences in therapy as a teenager—feeling understood for the very first time—I recognize the profound impact of feeling seen and heard.

Educational Background

I hold a Bachelor’s of Science from Florida State University, with a double major in Psychology and Family/Child Sciences. Building on this foundation, I earned a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. My educational journey has been instrumental in shaping my therapeutic approach, emphasizing evidence-based practices and a profound comprehension of the counseling process.

My hands-on experience blossomed during a transformative internship at Decatur High School Counseling Center. There, I assisted adolescents facing a range of challenges, such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, trauma, and issues related to self-esteem and body image. This experience reinforced the significance of offering empathetic, customized support to young individuals as they navigate pivotal developmental stages.

After graduating, I extended my practice to an outpatient group facility in Alpharetta, GA, My dedication to ongoing learning and professional growth has motivated me to pursue specialized training in multiple therapeutic approaches.
